Holidays conjure up many thoughts- long, chilly nights, snuggled up by the fire, bare feet tucked under the one you love. Some are hallmarks of summer when skin is warmed by more than the sun. There is the after Thanksgiving dinner nightcap, as the smooth, sultry burn of whiskey warms your chest, rendering your limbs heavy or include lazy kisses and wandering hands beneath your best dress on a romantic Valentine's Day date.

But sometimes, Grandma gets boozed up and passes out at the table, your brother gets caught rubbing one out under the fireworks, your kids catch mommy kissing Santa (and not on the lips), your special new toy winds up in the wrong gift bag, a goat steals and wears your sexy new thong and watching the ball drop takes on a whole new meaning.

In other words, the holidays can be magical, but sometimes, they're also just f*cking awkward.

Release Tour of Fan Mail by LC Davis #giveaway

  Title: Fan Mail
By: L.C. Davis
Publication Date: November 1, 2016
Genre: M/M Romance
John Rals isn't an immortal vampire, but he plays one on TV and his real life is even better. He's got the money, the hot rockstar boyfriend, and if his award collection gets any larger, he's going to need a bigger penthouse apartment. A near-fatal injury in the prime of his career results in a bizarre case of mistaken identity and he wakes up convinced that he's really Carter, a long-forgotten character from his early career. Confused and alienated from his own life, John turns to the only person who seems to remember Carter. Aiden might be a crazy fan, but his letters soon become John's only tether to a world everyone else has forgotten. Can a fictional character and a formerly obsessed fanboy create something real together, or will John's past come back to haunt them both?
AMAZON CA - https://goo.gl/2cNdJs
My throat is tight and dry by the time I finish reading the letter and the coffee does nothing to help. There are so many emotions swirling around my head that I can't even think straight enough to pin one down.
In that moment, my mind is made up. I have to find Aiden. I have to see that smile in person, even if it isn't for me. These letters have become a tether to the reality I lost and the only thing that's keeping me afloat in this one. I can guess what my therapist is going to have to say about it, but I don't care.
I tear through the other boxes in a frantic search for another letter and as luck would have it there's one from Aiden near the top of the pile. This one is opened. I guess security started screening them by the point it was sent. Nothing falls out, but it's hard to tell if that's because he didn't enclose one of his quirky little gifts or because someone took it. The thought of what it might have been is driving me insane and it furthers my desire to find him.
Like I needed another reason.
This letter is short, too, even shorter than the last. My hands tremble and I take a second to steady them, afraid I'll rip the page.
Dear Carter,
I'm so sorry. I guess the "Save Our Show" campaign wasn't enough. I feel like I let you down. We all do. There's talk of the show maybe getting picked up by another network. If NLC was dumb enough to let the show go after season three, they can get fucked.
Sorry for the profanity. I'm in a great mood as of late. My grandfather isn't doing well. Kind of came out of nowhere. There's a rumor about a new auto parts shop being built off the highway that's probably going to take away a lot of our business, too. When it rains it pours, huh?
God, this letter is depressing. I probably won't even send it. If I can muster a shred of dignity through the night, I'll rip it to shreds before the post goes out tomorrow. I guess I just wanted you to know that I won't stop watching. It won't be the same, but I'll be watching and hoping that whatever spark it is that makes you so special as a character will show up in the other roles John takes.
Time to break out the box sets for some repeat binge watching. It's way cheaper than therapy, you know.
Till next time,
Aiden
My heart sinks as the letter reaches an end. I don't like the fact that his salutation has changed, but at least it doesn't sound final. Supposedly there's a letter where he chewed me out, anyway, if it didn't get lost. I search through the box with renewed desperation, but it takes emptying the contents of two more boxes onto the floor before I find another Aiden letter. It's postmarked last year.
I'm torn between the need to know what the last letter says and being paralyzed with fear. It was sent just a week after Bobby's death. How much has changed in that year?

Read A Few Excerpts From Andie...

It’s not every day a chocolate penis is wanged in your face. ‘Mum. Stop it, you’re in a children’s play centre,’ yells my best mate, Camille. Her shouting only has more people turning towards us. ‘Oh, Camille. How do you think all those children were made? If it wasn’t for willies, there wouldn’t be anyone in your business.’ ‘Talking about business, leave Beth alone.’ ‘But she’s an expert.’ ‘Not with penises I’m not.’ I sigh. ‘But chocolate, yes. Cam, go make us a drink so I can have a proper conversation with your mum.’ ***
  Young couple kissiing
Sighing, I follow Dylan through the bank. I can’t help noticing that for an arsehole, his bottom is rather nice. Tight and firm. He swings round. 'Are you checking out my bum?' 'No.' I go to flip my hair but meet nothing as it's in the damn ponytail. 'Sorry, my mistake,' Dylan raises his hands in mock surrender. ‘That’s just how it looked. You know, in the reflection there.' He points to a glass cabinet. I look and see our reflections. Fuck. 'It's a kink in the glass or something. Makes it look weird.' I fold my arms around myself. Dylan tilts his head as he looks at me. 'Kink, hey? Hmm.’ *** What the fuck does she read? I called in sick again. It's now late Tuesday morning and I've spent hours pouring over these books. Billionaires. Cowboys. Rock Stars. I've also been through the shelves. Dora already had a couple of the books I've bought her. One thing they all have in common? What I have seen termed as an Alpha Male. Basically, you start off treating the woman like absolute shit, but it's okay because you have issues. It's not personal, it's becaus

Time passing. Blue hourglass.e you're an orphan. In these books, every one of them is an orphan. Could the authors not be fucking bothered to write parents and family in? Fuck those few thousand words and complications. Road accident for Ma and Pa. Job done. Well, I'm not an orphan but my mum died a few years ago, so that's something I can work with. I'll develop some kind of issue with it, to make myself angry.

“So, what you're saying is, I cannot move freely about my own house? That my father lied and he really is going to keep me here?” “If your father is as smart as I think he is, he will.” That was the only way their team could guarantee her protection and safety. No matter how heavily secured the estate remained, until J was brought down, Caroline Cotter’s life was at risk. “So then why even bother rescuing me if you were just going to make me exchange one prison for another?” Merc snorted. “I would hardly call this a prison.” “And what would you know about prisons?” Without thinking, his feet carried him across the room, not stopping until his shins bumped into the couch cushion. “I know a lot more than you do, princess. Trust me, your father’s only doing what's necessary to keep you safe. The minute you step out the door, you could be targeted. He has snipers that could kill you from over a thousand yards away, and no matter how hard I try, I won't be able to predict that or stop the bullet.” “I’ll be trapped here for the rest of my life, then? What kind of life is that?” “The kind where you stay alive and breathing,” Merc countered. Her nostrils flared, her knuckles turning white as she squeezed the couch. “I refuse to live my life ruled by fear.” “I'm not asking you to live like this forever, just until we capture him.” Merc tried to reason with her. Surely she could see his logic, couldn’t she? “And what if that's a year from now? Two years? Never?” Caroline lifted her chin and Merc’s admiration of her spirit rose. She had an unrelenting thread of strength running through every word. She argued with logic and passion, not tears and emotion. And although it made no damn sense whatsoever, he found himself agreeing with her. There is no way in hell Merc would let anyone tell him where he could and could not go, or
rr-teaser-hotrevengeriver_regretkeep him locked up indoors for the rest of his life. Just the thought chafed him, so he could only imagine how it made Caroline feel, especially after being held captive. “I’m sorry, but I can’t take the chance that he will get to you again.” He refused to allow her to be injured or captured again, not under his watch. “Besides, it won’t be that long. We’ll find him or he’ll come here to finish what he started.” Which meant cleaning up his tracks and the only guarantee for that would be killing Caroline. “He won’t stop. Believe me, I know from personal experience.” She plucked at a small loose thread on the back of the leather couch. “How exactly do you know my – my father’s enemy? I thought he worked for Cotter.” Merc’s lips twisted into a cruel snare of a smile, more of self-depreciation than anything else. “Once upon a time, I was young and stupid and I believed all the bullshit J fed me. He’d saved me when I wasn’t much older than a teenager. At the time, I thought it was because he was a good man, but later on, I found out it was because he’d seen me in action as a solider. He valued my skills and wanted to use me.” “So before him, you worked for the CIA?” Merc never told anyone about his lack of memory, not even his TF-S teammates, but there was something about the girl standing in front of him that made him want to tell her. “I don't remember anything before waking up in a hospital with J telling me he’d barely saved my life. He told me I was a foot soldier, but I never found my records. Who knows, I could've been black ops before then – a mercenary, an assassin – or I could have been some CIA recruit injured in battle, something I might not ever know.” Normally he’d feel that pang of self-loathing for letting J get away, but this time, looking into Caroline’s eyes, he had zero regrets for choosing her life over his past. “What you're saying is basically your entire life has been some sort of training and work as a soldier. Haven't you ever been curious about the outside world? Didn't you want to know what it was like to have a normal life?” Her probing question caught him off guard. “I wouldn't know how.” At her look of chagrin, he found himself frantically searching for an explanation. A normal person would probably want to do things like he'd seen on TV – go to the movies, go out to eat, come home, take out the trash, mow his one-acre lot in a suburb where everyone else’s house looked exactly the same. It was a life he'd never had and never wanted. “I know you can’t understand this, having grown up in a normal home, but I don't know how to be anything else other than a soldier.” She blinked then looked away for a moment. “You think this is normal?” When she looked back, her face was tinged with dark shadows. “I've been locked in a bubble my entire life, hidden from everyone else, from the public, from being normal. I’ve never been allowed the freedom to do what I please. I’ve never even... kissed a man. How pathetic is that?” Merc's heart lurched in his chest, and despite his better judgment, he went around the couch to stand directly in front of her. Her soft, perfect skin called out to him. He cupped her chin, tilting her head back. “You've been trapped as much as I have.” As if his thumb had a mind of its own, he rubbed back and forth, tracing her cheek. When she leaned into his touch, warmth blossomed in his chest. “I've always wondered what it would be like. Is it like on TV when the guy kisses the girl and she lifts her foot back?” Her blunt honesty rocked him to his core. He didn't know. How could he? His soldier’s life hadn’t exactly been riddled with free time. As far back as he could remember, he'd never been with a woman. What would it be like? For the first time he could remember, Merc wanted to know and he wanted to find out with Caroline. He lowered his head to hover an inch above hers, captivated by her spicy sent. “Do you want to find out?”

Men and women in the armed forces are often away from home, family and their beloved pets for the holidays. But this year, three service members will be home for Christmas in heartwarming military homecoming stories by New York Times Bestselling Authors Lindsay McKenna, KaLyn Cooper and J.M. Madden. Snowflake’s Gift by Lindsay McKenna Two veterans—one human, one canine—have returned to Montana to recover from the traumas of war. FormerArmy Ranger Nick Conway depended on his WMD dog Snowflake to help him navigateIEDs on the battlefield. Now he needs his best friend to help him cope with hisPTSD and acclimate to civilian life. When he meets Holly McGuire and agrees to help her deliver meals to the elderly, her inner light calls to him, but his demons hold him back from giving in to his attraction. But Snowflake takes an immediate shine to the kindhearted Holly—and he has never led Nick down the wrong path. SEAL's Christmas Dream by J.M. Madden When Veterinarian Willow James' office is broken into, it's natural that she turn to her soul mate, former Navy SEAL K9 handler Joe Flynn, to track down the culprits. The trail leads to a notorious Pit-Bull fighting ring. It may take a Christmas miracle and a helpful nudge from an old partner to get everyone home safely. unnamed-9 Noel's Puppy Power by KaLyn Cooper Tanner Hill is better at communicating with animals than women. That might be why he hasn’t had a second date in over two years. He’s also been extremely busy with his kennel that has become the premier training facility, specializing in supplying dogs to veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Then again, there is this psychologist he can’t get out of his head, or his heart. Dr. Bailey Conrad would never allow the loss of half her right leg to an IED in Iraq to stop her. Every day at the VA hospital, she sees patients who have lost so much more to the war effort. It’s her goal in life to help as many vets as possible to find a 'new normal', because she knows firsthand, it’s the internal scars that can be the most difficult to heal. Short excerpt from SEAL's Lost Dream by JM Madden- “Hey, babe,” she smiled. “The dogs are outside. Why don’t you grab a shower while we finish up here?” Instead, he leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed over his broad chest and watched them. “I can’t take part in this, but it still feeds my soul.” Crossing the room, he knelt down in front of her and leaned in for a kiss. Raven noticed her father and began to beat her fist excitedly, but she didn’t release Willow’s breast. She was still too hungry. Their little family unit was amazing, and every day brought new experiences and milestones. Willow let their little bubble of shared happiness sink into her bones. She would remember this day.

From bestselling author Jade C. Jamison comes a standalone contemporary romance that takes a fresh look at the May-December relationship... She said she would do anything to save him...but will it cause her to lose herself? What if she was wrong? What if Brandon Abbott is not who he says he is? Kimberly Cooper’s emotional compass has been off since her bitter divorce and the death of her oldest son, so when young soldier Brandon shows up at her door, she invites him to be part of her family’s life. He says he was friends with her deceased son… But things don’t seem to add up. And then, when she becomes sexually attracted to him, all bets are off. When her heart trumps her brain, will she know if she was wrong or will she learn the truth after it’s too late?

Here's An Excerpt From Lisa...

There was a sadness about Brandon that touched my heart. I could sense that he had so much more to say, but the words couldn’t find a way out. Maybe he needed time, but there was also a chance that those words would be forever buried inside him. “Brandon, I haven’t been a Christian woman since the day I learned of my son’s death, but it wouldn’t be very Christian or civil of me to turn you away after dark.” I took a deep breath and saw him mustering up an argument, but I began speaking again before he could protest. “Ordinarily, I’d have a guest stay in the extra bedroom, but—if you’d be okay with it—I’d imagine Gabriel would like to have you stay in his room. It’s…been unoccupied for a very long time.” There was a long pause until JR clamored, “Please?” Brandon’s struggle was evident in his eyes but he said, “That’s very kind of you. I’d…appreciate it more than you know.” His soul had spoken to me that night. It was the night I fell in love with Brandon Abbott.

For years, Jade C. Jamison tried really hard to write what she thought was more “literary” fiction, but she found herself compelled to write what you read by her today—sometimes gritty, raw, realistic stories and other times humorous, light tales—but most of the stories she writes revolve around relationships and characters finding their way through life. While she doesn’t confine herself to just one genre, nor is there a nice neat label for what she writes, most of her work could be called erotic romance. She lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.

She loves the warm temperatures. She's worked in retail for almost 17 years, but if she were able to do anything she wanted, she would be a full-time reader, writer, and fur-baby mom. She has always been a big reader, and writing was something she started late in high school, but she began to dabble in it again once she discovered fanfic in 2009. Since then, she's read and written plenty in her spare time, especially since she cannot watch a TV show or a movie without thinking about how she could write a story like it.

Mac isn’t interested in playing to the politics of other Made men or Cosa Nostra. His only goal is to keep his promise and be waiting for his gun moll when she’s finally released from prison.
Until all hell breaks loose … again. Fresh off her six month sentence, Melina Morgan is all too ready to get back to life, and Mac. The mafia life has been one learning curve after another, but with Mac at her side, there’s nothing that they can throw at her that she can’t handle. Even with a ring on her finger, and a new last name to go with it, Melina won’t be domesticated. But with a man like Mac, he wasn’t exactly looking for that kind of a woman, anyway. Sometimes, wedding bells bring bloodstains … When directed attacks start to happen, taking the lives of some of the highest Made men in the Pivetti family, distrust and unrest begins to breed throughout the ranks. Someone is making a move on the boss’s seat, and it seems far too easy to put the blame at Mac’s feet when every single attack is somehow connected to him. All over again, Mac and Melina find they’re fighting an uphill battle to keep each other safe and survive. But this time, they might not be fighting alone …

EXCERPT

Mac Maccari wasn’t a three-piece suit kind of man. He much preferred the comfort of dark-wash jeans, a T-shirt, and combat boots to wear while handling his daily business. It was a comfort thing, and a heat thing. Glaring up at the bright sun in the sky as he crossed the street as quickly as he could, Mac swore he was melting under his suit. It was an unusually warm Summer for New York. It was almost always muggy during the season, but this year, Mother Nature decided to kick that shit up a notch. Mac was less than impressed. It probably didn’t help that the majority of his day was spent running to and from different locations as he handled his crew and what the men were doing at any given time. But … it was what it was. And he was damn good at his job. Mac supposed that if he wasn’t good at being a Capo, he’d already be dead. At least, for the time being, he had that going for him. The heat wave, however, could go to hell. Tugging his jacket off, Mac slipped into the business at the very end of the block, tossing the coat over his arm as a cool blast of air from the air conditioner smacked him straight in the face. He soaked in the cold air as he glanced around the place, taking in the woman behind the counter, talking animatedly on the phone and snapping a large wad of gum in her mouth at the same time. She didn’t even look like she noticed him standing there, for fuck’s sake. Mac didn’t mind. He wasn’t here to see her, anyway. Pulling his phone out of his pocket, Mac searched for the message he’d been left earlier in the day. Infinite Insurance, ask for Ronnie, it read. A few other details had been included, but Mac figured those weren’t important until he found Ronnie. Mac had come to find out, over his last few months as a newly appointed Capo for the Pivetti crime family that Luca Pivetti had little to no patience for people who owed him something. It didn’t matter what it was—money, action, or a word. If a person owed him, he expected them to pay accordingly. Maybe even a little more simply because he was kind enough to do business with them. As the boss, it was Luca’s due. Mac didn’t question why his boss hadn’t simply sent an enforcer over to the place to handle his shit—that wasn’t his place. He just did what the boss wanted done. Bypassing the receptionist without so much as a ‘hello’, Mac strolled to the back of the insurance bankers business, finding a hallway with several offices. All had glass windows for walls, letting him see the men and women inside, sitting behind desks with either a phone to their ear, or clients inside the offices. Thankfully, plaques were attached to each door, names boldly inscribed on each one. Mac found the Ronnie he was looking for mid-way down the hallway. The heavier-set gentleman was alone inside his office, from what Mac could see through the window, and didn’t seem to be tied up with a phone call as he was busy sorting papers. That was going to suck when he had to clean up the mess later. Mac couldn’t find much remorse for what he was about to do. Business was business after all. Cosa Nostra business was even tougher. It simply couldn’t wait. Mac didn’t bother to knock on the office door, but rather, turned the knob and walked right in, depositing his jacket on one of the two chairs meant for clients. The insurance banker—Ronnie—glanced up, startled, at Mac’s sudden appearance. If Mac had to guess by the wrinkled dress shirt, the messy hair, and the tired gaze, Ronnie had some shit on his mind. He was about to get more. “You can’t just barge in here,” the man started to say. “Clients make appointments.” Mac reached over and twisted the blinds closed on the window—no one could see in now. He locked the door, ensuring no one would walk in during the … meeting. Turning back to face the man he’d been sent to see, Mac offered a wide-eyed Ronnie a smile. Cold as it was, Mac figured the guy would take this better if he was a little loosened up before the actual warning came about. Ronnie started to stand from his desk, confusion writing heavily over his features. “Who in the hell are you?” “I’m not important,” Mac said, rolling up the cuffs of his dress shirt. Blood was a bitch to get out. Maybe he’d avoid the few splatters that might occur, if it were possible. But probably not. “But Luca,” Mac continued, shrugging like it didn’t make a difference. “Now the boss and his money is a whole other story.” For the first time since Mac entered Ronnie’s office, he saw the first trickle of genuine fear light up the man’s eyes. “I-I have his—” “They all say that,” Mac interrupted, knowing what the man was going to say. Bullshit excuses. Another stall tactic. “Fact is,” Mac said, keeping an eye on Ronnie in case he grabbed for something to attack with, “… you’re two weeks late, according to the boss. And he was nice enough to fund your little project because apparently, you go way back. Now you’re ducking and dodging Luca like it’s what you do for a living.” Mac chuckled, waving around at the office. “Clearly, you work in another business, and you’re not very good at the ducking and dodging game,” Mac finished with another smooth, cold smile. “Let me call Luca,” the man said quickly. “Please, we’re friends. He’ll understand, I’m sure.” Mac sighed. Luca didn’t care who a person was—friend, family, or enemy. If someone owed him something, they owed him. “Just let me make this easy,” Mac said. “You’ve only got to bleed, after all. Nobody says you’re going to fucking die from it. Now, if you make it hard on me, that’s going to be a problem, and it’ll probably hurt a lot more. Do us both a favor here, and let me get this over with.” Ronnie opened his mouth to say something, his gaze darting to the windows, the door, and then to Mac. Mac knew that look. It was the look of a man trying to find his way out. Well, he had news for the guy. “Make a single sound, and I will cut your tongue out,” Mac said quietly. “There is no where to run, and very few people left in the building. So unless you want your associates to know how you’ve been doing underground business with a mafia boss, I suggest you let me do what I came here to do.” Simple, right? Mac knew it would be—it always was.
