Secrets. Redemption. Love’s second-chance. Hard-driving real-estate developer Lauren Rolphe returns to her hometown of Looking Glass Lake, ready to revitalize the area and receive a hero’s welcome for her troubles. Practical-joker Matthew Paycoach is the town’s most loyal and influential citizen…and the Looking Glass Lake’s most charming cowboy. But even his easy-going smile can’t mask the pain Lauren caused when she dumped him and left town without a goodbye nine years ago. As they war over the town’s future, Looking Glass Lake’s most notorious matchmakers jump into the fray. Matt quickly loses the battle to protect his heart, and Lauren is overwhelmed by sweet memories and longings she has tried so desperately to forget. But when a secret surfaces and the past comes back to haunt them, Matt and Lauren must learn how to let go and trust God…or lose love’s true home forever. Love’s True Home is Book 1 in the Looking Glass Lake series of contemporary Christian romance. If you like sweet and clean love stories with quirky characters that get you laughing, then you’ll love Rebecca Nightsong’s world of imperfect people who dare to put their faith and love in action. Saddle up and enter cowboy country to start this sweet love story today!

Excerpt One...

“Don't look so worried,” Matt said. “I've heard the mayor of this place is really quite reasonable.” He leaned forward, a teasing glint in his eye. “I've also heard he has quite the crush on you, so he might entertain a low offer. As long as it's within reason, of course.” Lauren couldn't look at him. Today, she didn't have it in her to flirt. And her foggy brain refused to give her the right words to tell him how bad it really was. But she had to try one more time. “The structural damage is a lot worse than I thought, too,” she said. “Which means the entire project might take a lot longer than anticipated.” Matt laughed, and she looked up at him in surprise. “That's the best news I've heard all day,” he said. “It means you'll be in town longer.” He leaned down and kissed her, his lips lingering on hers. Lauren gave up then, and reached her hands up around his neck, kissing him back. Kisses like that made her realize how badly she wanted to stay here. Kisses like that almost made her forget about the numbers and the balance sheets and the return on investment. Kisses like that pushed back the pain of so many losses and brought a whisper of hope. They made her vision blur and her heart beat faster, and then instead of seeing the world through numbers, she saw it through his eyes. Through his eyes, this was a priceless historical building, with so much sentimental value to the town and the state. And to Matt. Maybe even to her, just because it mattered to Matt and Looking Glass Lake so much. Which meant that those kisses must really be messing with her heart. And maybe her head. Because between head and heart, she wasn't sure anymore which direction she was headed.loves-true-home-christian-romance

Excerpt Two...

“What I have a problem with,” Lauren spat, “is you taking advantage of your star power to control a whole town. They can't even think for themselves. They're too busy falling all over you.” Thwap. Matt sunk a nail into the wood with his nail gun before he turned and looked at her. “Maybe that's why you left town nine years ago.” “This isn't about me leaving. And anyway, that makes no sense.” He came down the ladder and laid his nail gun on the granite counter top. He stepped entirely too close to her. Golden flecks in his navy eyes sent a zing up her spine, and the fresh cedar of his aftershave throttled her heart rate. She took a shaky breath. “Let me clarify, then,” he said, his voice low. “Maybe you left because you were afraid you were falling for me.” She laughed. “Falling for you?” Whew. Just when she thought those memories would sweep her back up in their arms, he said something like that. Something that slapped her upside the head with reality. “Matthew Paycoach, you made certain a long time ago that I would never fall for you again, not in a million years.” His teeth gleamed in a wicked smile. “I can still get you riled up.” She smoothed her skirt and sniffed. “Stupidity gets me riled up.” He laughed. “You sure look pretty when you're mad,” he said. He reached out and touched her chin, turning her face up gently. “And that lipstick color is very....” His lips curled into an amused smile. “Very noticeable.” She scowled, and her hands flew to burning cheeks. She'd forgotten about the makeup. She was serious, and he treated her like a joke. The whole town had treated her like a joke. All along, she'd been the fool. Well, that was about to change. “I didn't come here to talk about the past.” She jerked her face away and swung her briefcase onto the counter. “Then you'd better change your plans.” Matt planted his feet wide apart and rested his thumbs on his tool belt. “Or what? You'll pull your nail gun, and we'll have a shootout at the OK Corral?” She snapped her briefcase open and pulled out a file. She tapped the corner of the file against his chest. “Look, Matt. This isn't personal. It's business. Enough with the practical jokes. Why can't you put resentments aside and get down to business? Looking Glass Lake needs me, whether you admit it or not. And the Glass Slipper Resort is the only thing that will save this town. And the only thing that will save the Glass Slipper Resort is my boss and his plans to renovate.” She spread the specs out on the counter, but he didn’t even glance at them. He folded his arms, and they engaged in a stare down. She knew the good, the bad, and the ugly about this man. Even a lonely Native flute call and a tumbleweed blowing through on a dry wind wouldn’t shake her focus. He was going down. She tapped her fingers against the counter top. Make your move, cowboy.

Meet The Author...

Rebecca Nightsong grew up under the wide-open skies of Idaho, where she spent long days in fluffy petticoats and lace, chasing geese and riding goats (since sadly, she had no horses). As a bossy sister in a large family of all boys, she may or may not be guilty of making her 3 year old brother lie down on a hard strip of lumber in the middle of the pasture to take a pretend nap when playing “pioneer families.” Today, Rebecca lives with her husband, who is a constant source of inspiration. She spends her time in her quirky fictional world of Looking Glass Lake, bossing around characters who frequently boss back. You can find her at: www.rebeccanightsong.com

Here goes:   Xan took a moment to stop herself from laughing. How much had Jay had to drink this time? "Why are you so set on getting married?" she asked carefully. "The mail order bride, the virginity auction, the reality TV show…and now an old friend who worked here before Meier hired me. If you ask me, it smacks of desperation. Which is pretty strange, considering how easily you seem to charm the women you want. What am I missing, Jay?" "Angel's wedding," he mumbled, so quietly she barely caught the words. "Your bandmate, right? But if it's her wedding, she's the one getting married, not you." "The invitation said to bring a partner." Xan waved her hand. "But you know that's just a courtesy, right? If you don't know the name of your guest's partner when you write the invitation, which can be printed a year in advance, that's what you put on it, so they can still bring a partner along if they want, and she or he still has an invitation." "Not this time. Not when it's from Angel. It's her telling me to bring a partner because she thinks I need one." He eyed the jetty boards, avoiding her gaze. "And you always do what she says?" Xan asked. He looked up. "Fuck yes! I like living, with all my bits attached, thanks." "But it didn't say wife, did it? Your invitation? It just said partner, right?" Xan pressed. "Yeah. The wife bit…that bit…that was me." He kicked a rock off the jetty. "I said I'd come with my wife, and we'd be so in love we'd put the other couple in the shade." Tempting fate, of course. The beginning of a true Greek tragedy. Or a Roman farce, seeing as this involved Jay Felix. "You could just bring a partner for the night. You don't seem to have a problem keeping a girl interested that long. I'm sure there are hundreds of girls who'd kill for the chance to attend a wedding with you." "Bring a fangirl to Angel's wedding?" Jay's eyes widened in horror. "She'd crucify me. Once Jo was done with me, because she'd never forgive me, either. This won't be a public wedding. You'll see. Angel won't allow any media on the island. Shit, she'll probably have armed security guards stationed along the beaches, ready to shoot down any aircraft within range, drone or manned." Xan still didn't understand what passed for logic in Jay's mind. "But she'd be happy have a reality TV show starlet or some girl whose virginity you bought in an online auction at her wedding." She almost added something about his black widow mail order bride, but stopped herself in time. Phuong's betrayal was a low blow that still had the power to upset him. Xan might not like Jay, but she wasn't that cruel. "She wouldn't have known," Jay said. Xan snorted. "That reality TV show aired its first episode last week. The whole country knows about your very public search for a wife. Paige told me the studio is in talks to sell the rights to this season to one of the big networks in the US. Everyone wants to watch the music world's hottest bachelor find a wife, live in their living room. Your Angel would have to be living under a rock in a bunker with no access to the outside world not to know about THAT." Jay sighed heavily. "She's not my angel. Never was, never will be." His shoulders slumped and all the fight went out of him. Finally, Xan understood. "How long have you been in love with her?"06 "What's it matter?" Angrily, Jay swept the remaining rocks off the jetty with his foot. "She's marrying that psycho, not me. And Audra says cheaters never get a happily ever after, so I'm fucked on all sides now. Doesn't matter who I go to her wedding with, because whoever she is, we won't be happy." He laughed bitterly. "Because if I cheated on Audra by getting with fangirls on just that one farewell tour, I've cheated on Angel hundreds, maybe thousands of times. Doesn't matter that there was no love or relationship involved with any of them. She'll never want me." "Sometimes the one person we want is the one we can't have," Xan said. That was the whole bit about the hero's quest in all the ancient stories, right? A hero haring off after some impossible goal? "Would you get back with a guy who cheated on you?" Jay challenged. Xan hesitated. Would she get back with Jerome? "No," she answered finally. "It's too big a betrayal. I hope his dick shrivels up and no one ever loves him again." Jay plucked at his shorts. "You want my dick to do what? Hey, there's nothing about that in any of the books. Never being loved is enough, don't you think?" Yes. Maybe it was. Xan would settle for never seeing Jerome again, to be honest, let alone any shrivelling. Except….there was the problem of the reopening of the Mangrove Hotel. Maybe she and Jay could help each other out. "You know what?" Xan said. "If you come with me to an official function in town next month, I'll make a deal with you. If you still can't find an acceptable partner to attend your bandmate's wedding with, I'll go with you." "And marry me, too?" Jay realised his mistake as soon as the words left his lips. "Okay, sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Forget I said it. She'll already know you're the hotel manager here, and she won't believe…" "That's right," Xan interrupted. "What do you say? Is it a deal?" "Yeah." Jay eyed her with what Xan might have called relief. "Thanks, Xan. I guess that makes us friends, doesn't it?" Xan nodded, biting her tongue before she blurted out the bit about her friendship coming with an absolute lack of benefits. Instead, she wished him a nice evening, and headed back to her house, vowing to help him find a better date for the wedding than her. Whatever it took. And she had to meet this Angel, who had the power to both terrify and enthral a man like Jay Felix.

COWBOYS AND CALICO

Blog Tour ~ The Forgotten Fairytales

The Forgotten Fairytales
by
 Angela Parkhurst
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: February 10th 2014

Summary from Goodreads:

Once upon a time, seventeen-year-old Norah Hart believed in the lure of fairytales and happily ever afters. That was before she was forced to live in a fairy tale nightmare.

A psychotic, couture-clad, shoe obsessed Princess.
A not-so-charming, alcoholic Prince.
A hot Big Bad Wolf that she absolutely cannot fall for—no matter how well he kisses.

If Norah had known she’d be attending a boarding school for the nut job reincarnations of fairy tale characters, she would have insisted on going to Moscow with her father. But getting out isn’t as easy as she thought. Especially once Norah realizes she, too, is a storybook character. An Unknown. The first one in over one hundred years. Soon Norah learns she has the ability to rewrite the stories, putting everyone’s Happily Ever After in jeopardy.

Some princesses will do whatever it takes to protect their endings. Even if it means betraying the one closest to you.

Every scene between Norah and Wolf was fun to write, even more fun to reread over and over again because I love their chemistry, I hope you do too!!

“Why are you staring at me like that?” A five o’clock shadow coated his rough skin and he breathed in, as if to smell me. I shivered, but not in a disgusted way, in a way that made me want to take a step closer, his eyes were beautifully intoxicating.“Most princesses run at the sight of me.”I leaned against the tree for support. “You’re not scary.”
“Of course I am. I’m a villain.” Wolf flashed his big white teeth at me. They were slightly bigger and sharper than the average person, not that I spent a lot of time looking at people’s teeth, but they stood out. Come to think of it, his ears were a little bigger too, and his eyes.“Let me guess, the Big Bad Wolf?” I examined him, wondering why I never noticed it before. His burly hands could kill someone. “Frightening.” I raised my hands and pretended to be terrified. “But you’re wrong about one thing. I’m not a princess. I don’t claim to be perfect like the others. What if I’m a villain, too? Hell, maybe we’re all villains, we just don’t know it because not everyone has snapped yet.”
“Naw. You wouldn’t be so worried about Kate if you were.”He was right, but only about the Kate thing. Order wasn’t something I’d obsessed over. And I sure as hell wasn’t going to start because someone told me to.
“You’re so wound up, like a volcano ready to explode.” Wolf’s hand grazed my shoulder. A strand of my sandy hair slipped between his fingers and he twisted it, his attention pinned to the smoothness. A lump built in my throat, his touch clouding my mind. “There’s a party tonight at the south end of the woods. You should come, and release some of that tension. I, for one, would love to see an unleashed princess.”

From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-rich in Paris, the lovers tempt each other's boundaries to discover whether their darkest—and most forbidden—fantasies really can come true...

REVIEW:

this book has been sitting on my bookcase shelf for a long time ... I bought it when it was released in 2014
I now regret waiting so long to pick it up
I haven't read to many books by Kresley Cole but what I have read, I have enjoyed immensely
The Professional didn't disappoint ... STEAMY HOT and SEXY
I never thought Russian to be sexy ... I admit, I prejudged ... I was wrong
Aleksandr "The Siberian" Sevastyan is one sexy Russian ...he's also a  Mafiya enforcer!
He was sent to find Natalie Porter  ...
She's been trying to find her birth parents in Russia, learn her past ... and WOW what a past!

I wished it had more of the Mafiya drama that many books do ... I craved more adrenaline rushes ... but the power play between the characters sexually was great and made up for it but I still wanted a bit more ... the first half of the book had some great twists and turns as well as a simmering sexual tension
The second half was more on the sexual side ... and while I love a great sex scene I did wish for more than just the emotional struggles of a young woman and a stubborn man

If you are looking for a HOT HOT HOT READ ... pick this one up

You won't regret it!

Slavery, or mate to an Alien Commander?
Which would you choose?
Paris had lost her parents at a young age and instead of going into the foster system, she ended up on the streets. Sure, life was tough for a 17 year old girl with no one to turn to, but she made her way on the streets of Los Angeles for years. That is, until one day when she was no longer on the streets. Commander Venay of the V’Zenian Empire was a man on a mission. It was his responsibility to ensure a good lot of human slaves made it back to his planet each year. But this time it was different, he saw her across a field and knew he had to have her, at all costs. The choice was simple, Paris could be a slave on the V’Zenian home world, or she could become Venay's mate and provide him with the offspring his people so desperately needed! However, sometimes things aren't as simple as they seem, especially when another alien species wants the humans for their own nefarious reasons. Come and join J.L. Hendricks on her next voyage! Worlds Away is the first in a Sci-Fi Romantic/Adventure trilogy where aliens abduct women for more than just slavery, they abduct them to continue their own race! If you like Ruby Lionsdrake, then you will enjoy Worlds Away! This is a mostly clean romance with an HEA in each book. If it were a movie, it would be PG-13.

Excerpt ...

“Oh stink, this is real isn’t it?” I started to slink down on the floor as my body began to register the movement in space and my eyes confirmed what I was feeling. All of my senses were on overdrive, I could even taste the oxygen that had been pumped into the room. It almost felt like I was drowning. Venay reached down and picked me up. He held me to his side while walking me back to the couch. “Are you ok? Is the oxygen mixture too high for you?” He was looking me over and paying close attention to my chest, but in this case I believed he was watching me take shallow breaths. “Why can I taste the air? I shouldn’t be able to do that.” I looked at him with a raised eyebrow while breathing in deep. “We have an increased level of oxygen when we first leave the planet. Over the years we have discovered that humans tend to pass out easily unless we do this. Your bodies have a difficult time processing oxygen while in shock as we are leaving your solar system. But once we get moving your bodies adjust. They really are quite adaptable to most environments. Another reason our ancestors chose your people to integrate with us.” He puffed up his chest and sat up straighter. It looked like he took great pride in the fact that his ancestors abducted and experimented on humans. That just made me angry. “How could you take pride in the fact that your species has been kidnapping my people for two centuries? What do you do with my people? Do you force yourselves on the women? Force the men to be your slaves and do your hard labor?” I fisted my hands at my side and debated if I should hit him or try to run again. Although, I knew running wasn’t an option at this point. It was at this point that I truly believed he was an alien and I was in space. Not sure how this all happened, but there it was. He didn’t answer me at first, he looked back towards the porthole and watched space as we hurtled through it. I had to admit, it was quite beautiful and oddly enough, calming. I felt myself relaxing and let go of my fisted hands and my shoulders started to loosen up as well. “Paris, I will admit, our ancestors were not the most civilized. But we are very different now. We never force a woman to mate with us. If we take a human mate, she is very willing…” He looked at me and his eyes dilated while he gave me a smoldering smile. “Hey now, don’t go getting any ideas about me. I am NOT to be used as a breeding mare. No one who abducts me will be using me as a slave either. Stockholm Syndrome won’t be my downfall.” I got up and walked over to the open porthole and sighed as I watched the stars zoom past. I put my arm on the side of the porthole and leaned into it and whispered, “I will find my way home again.” “I chose you because you are my mate. I could feel it across the field when our eyes met. You felt it too, I know you did. The connection was visible on your face and when I touched you a moment ago as well.” “What exactly do you mean by ‘mate’?” “You would call it marriage. When we mate, it is with our one true love. The universe has created someone for all of us to love and join with. When we meet that one, we feel an instant sense of right, of belonging to each other. It is how my species have chosen their true mates since the beginning of time. There are exceptions, there are always those who can’t wait and will sometimes mate with someone they were never meant to mate with and that always causes problems.” “You might as well lock me up with the other slaves, because no one is going to mate with me.” I locked eyes with him and stared at him until he spoke again. “If that is what you wish, but I must warn you. Without my protection, any of the males on this ship have the right to try and persuade you to become their mate.” I tried to interrupt but he held up his hands, “They will not force themselves upon you or any other female, but they will try to get your attention in other ways… Most of the males who volunteer for this mission are looking for their mates. About half of the women will become mated to the men on this ship before we even reach our home planet.” He stood up and walked to the door but stopped before opening it. “Are you certain you would not reconsider and become my mate? I hold a very high rank and your life would be quite comfortable. You would be well taken care of and would want for nothing in life.” He looked me over slowly as I thought on his words. “I am positive. There is no way on God’s green Earth I would choose to give myself to anyone who kidnapped me. I want to go home and forget about this entire experience.” I huffed out and put my arms around myself in an effort to comfort me. It didn’t help… “Paris, this is the last time I will offer you my protection. You are intended to be my mate, I feel it. Life as a slave is not one you will enjoy. While we do treat our slaves better than we used to, it is still a very difficult life. One you will experience on this voyage home if you turn me down.” He reached over and took a strand of my hair into his hands and slowly drew it between his thumb and forefinger. I pulled my hair back, what he was doing was sending small shivers down my spine. That was too intimate of a gesture to accept from my abductor. “I am positive. It would be preferable to rot away as a slave than to be used up as someone’s mate.” He sighed and lowered his head for a moment, then stood up tall. Man was he tall, and imposing when he put his warrior mask back on. “Very well, but don’t come to me when you find that you don’t have enough food or warmth on this trip.” He proceeded to open the door and he grabbed my arm rather forcefully and hauled me over to one of the cages in the other room. “Open cage A-1, process this slave but make sure she gets extra in her evening meal.” He took one last look at me and then walked away as another alien took me by the arm. I heard Venay say something about putting his uniform on and then he would be on the bridge.

Meet The Author...

J.L. Hendricks is a new independent author. The Interdimensional Saga series is her first one and she is very excited to share Book 1, Eclipse of the Warrior. Her latest series which comes out later this month is a PG-13 version of the hot Alien Sci-Fi Romance genre! She thought it might be fun to write in that world while still keeping it mostly clean for everyone to read. Although, she has had some complaints that it was too steamy. Let her know what you think! She is very proud to have served in the US Army before she went to college. She decided to finally write, and finish a book, this year because of a few friends who encouraged her to do so. She hopes her stories entertain you and can bring a laugh on occasion. Actually, it was her roommate's cat who talked her into staying at home to be her minion all day long! Pyper truly believes that J.L. is here to serve her alone, and to feed her whenever she graces J.L. with her presence.

Excerpt ...

Because of my anxiety, I perceived the world differently. The medicine helped, but when it wore off, it wasn't like Cinderella's carriage turning back into a pumpkin at precisely midnight. It was more subtle, more gradual. It was a whole different way of reacting to the world, and it took a little more concentration. Something I couldn't do with him studying me. But then he rubbed his hand up my arm and he licked his lips and leaned into me and the world slowed down. "Hey, you okay?" I concentrated on his voice but couldn't stop staring at his lips. I tried to pull my gaze away from them, from him, but I couldn't. His facial expressions made me feel adored, and I didn't want to miss a thing. I leaned in further to get a better look, but my eyes closed and the next thing I knew, his lips touched mine. I pulled back a little and opened my eyes. The world caught up to whatever dimension we were in. It was much too abrupt for the moment, and I felt on the verge of a panic attack, but then I thought, maybe ... I closed my eyes, leaned in, and kissed him again. My lips parted and I licked them, but my tongue rubbed against his lips and retreated. We were so close. His lips shifted into a grin, and I parted my lips in surprise. He reached his hand behind my neck and pulled me closer as his tongue entered between mine. A muffled giggled escaped, and I was surprised to find it came from me. It disappeared into his mouth, which made him grin and pull back. The world stayed calm as I thought about how his lips felt on mine. His tongue swiped against my tongue with confidence. I opened my eyes and peered into his. They were no longer light; they had a definite dark hue and the color swarmed as if wondering how to take in the person they saw before them. Is it possible that I found something else to balance me? I leaned back, but as his hand slipped away from my cheek, I placed my hand on it to keep him firmly in place. I looked off to my right and the streetcar clinked by and people were strolling down St. Charles Avenue. I turned to my left and watched a group of kids cut across the park on their way home from school. I turned back to Ryan and smiled. He smiled back, and to thank him, I kissed him. I removed my hand from his, satisfied it would stay where I wanted it. My hand reached out to touch his chest. I wanted to confirm it was as solid as I imagined. My brief hug a few nights before had only hinted at it. I touched his skin peeking out the top of his t-shirt and ran my knuckle across the top. It was his turn to shiver, but it deepened the kiss as his tongue pressed into my mouth. I flatted my head on his chest and pressed back; he was solid, unmovable. He laid a soft little kiss on my mouth before pulling back and looking down at my hand splayed across his chest. His face tilted and he stared with a sexy grin. "Did you just kiss me?" he asked in a whispered tone.
