Deception (Fixer #1)by Alyson Raynes
I am not the child my father wanted. He's hated me since the day I was born because I'm not a boy. I was never good enough for him, until I met Stefan. Not that it earned me my father's love, but being with a man my father adored, made my life easier.
I thought Stefan was my forever. Until an afternoon of unanswered calls revealed he wasn't the man I believed he was. I had nowhere to turn except into the arms of a stranger.
Dylan Prescott, the mega billionaire, playboy...my co-worker. The one man I'd sworn I'd never have anything to do with. In my moment of weakness he was strong. Could he save me from my past or will his own secrets destroy us before we even get started?
warning ... may contain spoilers
I won a copy of this book and decided to pick it off my shelves to read as it was a short book I figured it would be a good 'in between books' kinda book!
The synopsis is pretty great as you can see but I found this book left me feeling ... disappointed!
this is my first novel by this author so I didn't know what to expect ... I enjoyed the idea of the storyline but the characters seemed a little flat and I had a hard time believing that they fell in love SO quickly.
Brooke is abused and scared by her long term boyfriend when she calls Dylan .. who she tells her friend is a gentleman but he seduces her that very night? WHAT?
also, at one point, Brooke tries to convince us she's not the kind of woman who 'accepts expensive gifts'
but she sure didn't take long to accept a $150000 car!?!?! one sentence of protest ... Wow!
Everything happens so fast that it feels forced and unbelievable
However, all is not lost ... this author has a creative mind and I do want to know what happens next
